I have the opposite problem to mistake #1: I spend too much time in the editing stage! 😆😭

(I edit while I write which everyone says not to do but I just can’t stop myself)

LOL, oh no, Jerod!

I’m curious—do you set up deadlines for yourself (even arbitrary ones)? Sometimes having a deadline looming over you and having your inner voice telling you to stop over-engineering the thing or to stop nitpicking, helps.

But—at least you take the care to edit! Just don’t edit too much ‘cos we want to see what you’re working on, of course. ;)

I don’t often set deadlines for my writing, which is good advice and something I need to start doing.

The good news is I have been working hard to clear my calendar a bit to make more time for writing (I tend to have a lot of ideas, but zero dedicated time to execute on them), so expect more in-depth commentary and content from me in the coming months. ✊

In the meantime, I’m happy to point people to interesting stuff (like yours) via Changelog News and just throw in my $0.2 here and there. 😄

💯agree on the YouTube video descriptions and the like…

It is so important to not skip that step for those who skim or need a bit more coaxing to engage. Not to mention important links mentioned in the content.

@radiomorillo this is a gold mine of advice!

@adamstac thank you so much for reading!

Yes, absolutely re: descriptions! Even judging by how I myself choose what videos to watch, I’ve become more aware that I’m less likely to click “Play” on a video that has no description than on one that does. And we as viewers aren’t always aware of those choices we make, which is why it’s important that we as content creators are.

Hoping we’ll see an uptick in more detailed video descriptions in the near future! ;)
