Reflecting on Bun's big launch

Fresh off Bun’s big 1.0 launch, Jarred Sumner goes one-on-one with Jerod to discuss the all-in-one JavaScript runtime that’s captured the interest of many. We get into it all: what problem he’s solving, how it’s so fast, why no Windows support, answering the critics, the (not real) beef between Bun and Node, how the VC-backed startup will sustain & more.

Regarding npm / yarn / bun: Trying some projects at the moment in search of a markdown presentation solution. Installing with npm failed, installing with yarn failed due to a certain binary not being available for arm64; but installing with bun worked…

And not just the install, but the program runs as expected 🤷‍♂️

Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Bit spooky…

Then it fails later, stating the same source of the problem that originally thwarted yarn / npm install.
Not sure what to think about that. Confused to say the least. Improvements will sort this confusion out though.

In any case. Great tool, but heat that Node and the team are getting as a result is a sad show of the current societal / internet culture.
