Prepare yourself for Quantum Computing

Johan Vos joined us to talk about his new book ‘Quantum Computing for Developers’ which is available to read right now as part of the Manning Early Access Program (MEAP). Listen near the end of the show to learn how you can get a free copy or check the show notes for details. We talked with Johan about the core principles of Quantum Computing, the hardware and software involved, the differences between quantum computing and classical computing, a little bit of physics, and what can we developers do today to prepare for the perhaps-not-so-distant future of Quantum Computing.

I would like to know more about using quantum computing for combinatorial optimization.

I would love to learn more about combinatorial optimization! Have any good resources for a neophyte on the subject?

Very interesting episode! In terms of resources about quantum computing, there’s this in-depth site introducing quantum computing named Quantum Country that’s had a number of articles posted to it over the last year or so - each article is pretty long, but they’re very thorough! What’s especially interesting to me is the authors have integrated a spaced repetition system into the articles so that you’re quizzed on what you’re reading, which they’re hoping will increase readers’ retention of the subject matter!

I have experiences on many fields of

  • IT, like hw/sw systems, web, design, automation etc
  • helping NGOs and SMEs to be more efficient using modern digital technologies
  • surviving off-the-grid and independently in urban environment, natural healthcare/healing, energy therapy and more

I want to live in harmony with nature in sacred society based on meritocratic values. On the way

  • i am supporting the process of creating
  • decentralized community of programmers/coders for virtualization of viable solutions and to build unstoppable applications
  • decentralized cryptocurrencies to support local meritocratic communities and effective communication systems
  • substantial solutions in natural healthcare/healing based on traditional values using modern technology

With Quantum computing and AI we are closer to develop ethical self sustaining systems based on natural patterns to serve life instead of greed. I am glad.

I’ve had a question about this topic for a while I hope you can answer johan.
What is the difference in terms of computational power / MIPS from a quantum cpu to a cpu based on an unbalanced or balanced ternary architecture?
Both instruction sets would be operating in base 3 so wouldn’t the complexity of the language be the same?
