"A terminal for a more modern age" ↦
I put Terminus’ tagline in scare quotes because while it’s intriguing, I do not know for sure whether it delivers on that promise. In more of its own words, Terminus is:
…heavily inspired by Hyper. It is, however, designed for people who need to get things done.
Them sound like fighting words. But what does “designed for people who need to get things done” mean, exactly? From the feature list in the README, I think maybe it means that it takes Windows more seriously than Hyper and handles printing output more quickly. But that’s just a guess…
I’d love to see a roundup and comparison of this new breed of Electron-based terminals. Anybody game?

I tried Hyper for around 6 months and recently switched back to iTerm2 mainly for stability reasons. Not sure if I want to try another electron based terminal.
Anyone want to change my mind?

Nah, I logged it because it’s interesting, but I’ve long been happy with Terminal.app and never switch away for very long before going back to it.
There’s something nice about using the built-in apps when they’re Good Enough.

Terminal.app user here as well. It is Good Enough for me.

I agree. I loved that I could version control my settings with Hyper (which I can’t do with iTerm2), but I switched back because Hyper felt so incredibly slow.

I’ve been using Terminus just for this morning, and it definitely has a long way to go. It’s pretty, sure, but it’s startup time (for the portable app) is abysmal. I’ll give it a day or two, but I don’t see me leaving ConEmu for this.

Good feedback, thanks. That doesn’t bode well considering it claims to be “designed for people who need to get things done.”
People who get things done need quick startup times, for sure.

Once it’s running, with a hotkey there are no issues of bringing it to focus immediately. So the startup time thing is only an annoyance every once in awhile.
I could see it being a great product down the road, but not quite yet.

Here’s a round up post I put together a few days ago:

Sorry for the blunt criticism, but Terminus (and other Electron terminals) are not usable, at least not on Windows (but VSCode on the other hand is very usable).
