This insane tech hiring market
This week we’re joined by Gergely Orosz and we’re talking about the insane tech hiring market we’re in right now. Gergely was on the show a year ago talking about growing as a software engineer and his book The Tech Resume Inside Out. Now he’s laser focused on Substack with actionable advice for engineering managers and engineers, with a focus on big tech and high-growth startups. On today’s show we dig into his recent coverage of “the perfect storm” that’s causing this insane tech hiring market.

Well, honestly it’s Gergely’s callout of the abuse of that company’s devs. Raised my blood pressure to 180/110. I think you probably mentioned it, but the problem isn’t JUST that they didn’t pay the bonuses, it’s the non-collaborative setting of a BS deadline. I mean, I guess they had a choice, but did they really? that kind of crap has to go. Complete disrespect of their valuable employee’s well-being. Sad to hear that company is doing well…moral hazard. Sick. And good on Gergely for naming and shaming.
But I was super interested in all the factors of the perfect storm. Fascinating. As a senior dev it puffs me up a little bit :D
